Developmental milestone envy...

So me and J had a playdate with a girl I know from work, K and her baby boy Z. Z is 5 days older than J. So cool, right. Someone finally who is right at his age and stage of doing absolutely nothing. But then the mom questions start

"So is J just rolling everywhere?" hmmmm, no if we put him on his stomach, after much protest he will roll on to his back, and I have in fact seen that he can roll from his back to his tummy, but he really isn't interested.

"Oh well then he must be pushing up and getting ready to crawl?" hmmm, again no. He really can't be bothered if a toy is too far for him. He's rather lick the blanket.

"Oh.....well how many teeth just J have? Cause Z has 2 already and another ready to pop any second" hmmm teeth you ask? Well at least once a week since July I have sworn he had teeth ready to burst forth any moment, but alas, we are still toothless.

(it's begining to get uncomfortable) "Oh.....well how much solid food food is he eating? Z eats three meals a day" hmmmm J only eats solids once a day, because I'm peterfied that if he starts eating more solids he will stop nursing.

"Oh.................Well I bet he just babbles up a storm, Z would "talk" all day if we let him" *sigh* J is really more of a quiet contemplative baby. He can in fact babble, I have heard it, but again for the most part he can't be bothered.

It sucks because I always told myself I wasn't going to be one of "those" moms. The kind that compares her kid to the books, the other kids older, younger and the same age. You know the ones, the mom on the playground who is all like "Well when did so and so start walking, because my little one came out of the womb and did a little two step, we were so proud" But dammit, it is completely impossible not to do comparing.

So lucky for J, since then it has been nothing but tummy time, back time and babble babble babble. He'll get the hang of it I just know it.
